Journey in Sevilla, a city full of Tangerine
Early arrival
An hour early arrival at Sevilla broke our plan in the morning. It is too early to find a place to spent time. In Spain, most of stores open later than other places. Even McDonald’s open at 9:30 A.M. We eat breakfast standing at a small restaurant. Then we find a good place to spend boring morning about 1 hour.
Mushroom of Seville
I felt cold at first, so I tried to keep warm in a hotel. However I was kicked off as I was not a guest here. The good news was that I felt warm after that.
The mushroom is a interesting building, also known as the world’s largest wooden made building.
Cheap living expense compared to North Europe
The living expense here is much cheaper than Lisbon, let alone Sweden.
Seville Cathedral
Outside of Seville Cathedral
Seville Cathedral is a magnificent building, comparable to the Cologne Cathedral.
Pay carriages driven by horse are everywhere
Inside of Seville Cathedral
Inside the building, there are so many arts.
This woman cries vividly and sadly.
The decoration of Sevilla Cathedral is also amazing and dedicated.
Tomb of Christopher Columbus
The introduction quoted from https://www.nomads-travel-guide.com/places/tomb-of-christopher-columbus/.
Situated near the entrance of Seville’s massive cathedral, there is a striking monument dedicated to Christobel Colon or as he is also known, Christopher Columbus. Resting on the shoulders of four symbolic figures representing the kingdoms of Castille, Aragon, Navarre, and Leon, the tomb commemorates Columbus’ significant historical role in Spain.
So this is not the actual tomb but a monument for Christopher Columbus.
Overview the whole city at the top of tower
At the top of bell tower, you can get a good overview of the city.
Royal Alcázar of Seville
Then we came to Royal Alcázar of Seville, which is a historic royal palace. The palace is simple compared to Forbidden City in Beijing.
Inside there is nothing fancy.
Most parts of the palace are gardening。
The plants and peacocks are very interesting.
The hall in the garden connects the palace and the garden.
I heard that this is one of the places where Game of Thrones shot.
Spain Square in Sevilla
Finally, we came to Spain Square in Sevilla, another landmark of Sevilla. Even though it is not a good place to appreciate sunset, I was inspired and shocked by its greatness.
Night lights on streets
The way we back home, we saw some shinny shaped lights.
Now I need to sleep for tomorrow’s tour, especially for the early train. Wrote on Jan. 3rd, 2025.
