Where the land ends and the sea begins
Authentic Portuguese egg tart
After a nice sleeping, we took a taxi to Pasteis de Belem, a famous Portuguese egg tart shop proven by the large number of guests.
Jerónimos Monastery
While eating egg torts as our breakfast, we pass by Jerónimos Monastery, an UNESCO world heritage site.
Monument to the Discoveries
Then we visited Monument to the Discoveries, decorated by the windrose offered by THE SOUTH AFRICA UNION on the fifth. centenary of the death of HENRY, the navigator, whose genius made the discovery of the CAPE of GOOD.
Belém Tower
Belém Tower, a 16th-century fortification, is close to the Monument, also an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Quinta da Regaleira
Around 12:00 P.M, we arrived Quinta da Regaleira, another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Great Wall near Quinta da Regaleira
There is also a Great Wall near Quinta da Regaleira, though losing its color compared to Great Wall in China.
Observation deck
I climbed to the top of observation deck.
The Regaleira Tower
Quinta da Regaleira Palace
In the end, we appreciated romantic palace closely.
Pena Palace
Finished journey in Regaleira, we came to Pena Palace, the fourth UNESCO World Heritage Site we met that day, also one of the seven wonders of Portugal. There are many very tall trees. The wet air strongly made me feel at home cause the air is too similar to my hometown. It is very strange that such a altitude difference causes absolutely different air.
The colors of the Palace made it alive and energetic.
The high position provided a excellent position for overviewing the entire city.
Room inside the Pena Palace
I really like the colorful glass art in the room. The decoration is also beautiful.
Cape Roca
We arrived Cape Roca just before sunset, thanks to taxi driver. There is a landmark says “Where the land ends and the sea begins” in Portuguese, because it is the western part of Euro-Asia Continent, the best place for enjoy the sunset.
The first time I see the boundless sea, the Atlantic ocean.
Enjoy the sunset
Night scene of Cape Roca
We did not leave until the dark, when we saw the night scene of Cape Roca.
Dinner time
After that, we went to street to eat dinner.
Leave Lisbon
Finally we went to bus station of Lisbon.
In the minus one floor, we saw the darkside of Lisbon. Through the way I accompanied Yi Tong to the toilet, there were dozens of homeless here, sleeping on the ground and scared us. In the WC, the conversation to the guard was very strange. To be honest, it was strange enough to have a security shown in the outside of toilet. He knocked the door several times. He thought my classmate as my wife. We communicated with the help of Google translator cause he does not speak English. I explained that she is my friend. He said it is too much of a guard for the lady. Then he asked whether my friend is a man or woman and knocked the door quickly. I said she is a lady and then she came out. I didn’t understand why the guard ask me such questions and knocked the door even though he know someone is inside. The way we back to the bus stop, I was too scared to take photos for homeless. Then we went to Spain on the bus, with a very limited sleep.
